Truth and the sanctity of human life for such a time as this
by Denise Mountenay
Understand the times we are living in. The people of God are not to be ignorant of the schemes and devices of the enemies of God. Like the sons of Issachar, it is important to know the times we are in (1 Chron. 12:32). As this scripture indicates, intelligent men, who understood the signs of the times, well versed in political affairs, and who knew what was proper to be done in all the exigencies of human life; and who now perceived that it was both the duty and political interest of Israel to advance David to the throne.
Psalm 139 declares that God knit us together in our mother’s womb, where we were fearfully and wonderfully made. DNA science affirms that human life begins at conception, and how amazingly our heart began to beat a mere three to four weeks after conception. By eight weeks all the vital organs are formed and by nine weeks gestation there are perfect little arms, legs, fingers and toes.
Yet, on January 28, 1988, the Supreme Court of Canada struck down Canada’s abortion law, opening the floodgates to abortion on demand. With no questions asked and no restrictions.
Truth is, induced abortion is the brutal dismemberment or poisoning of innocent children created in the image of God, before birth. For decades now, the practice of induced abortion had caused the deaths of over 100,000 children a year across Canada.
Abortion is not safe. As a former abortion patient, like most young pregnant women, I was pressured to have abortions and was lied to about the humanity of my babies in the womb, and told abortion was a safe procedure. However, like thousands of women, I had many complications physically, and suffered emotionally and psychologically for years in the aftermath. When we come into an agreement with abortion, we are in reality coming into an agreement with a spirit of death and murder.
There are now 60 published studies proving induced abortion is linked to breast cancer. The first study was done in Japan in 1957. China found that one abortion increases the risk of breast cancer by a whopping 44 percent. One hundred studies report that many women who have an abortion suffer cervical and uterine damage causing a higher risk of Preterm births in subsequent wanted children. As well, the British Journal of Psychiatry published a study finding that women who abort their baby have an 81 percent increased risk of mental health problems in the aftermath, compared to women who give birth to their unplanned children. For the last 32 years, we have paid for the demise of over three million children across Canada with our tax dollars and silence. God hates the shedding of innocent blood, and it will bring God’s judgments. (Prov. 6:17, Psalm 94, Deut. 19:10)
God has called us to be the salt and light of the world. Salt was used thousands of years ago to preserve fish and meat (flesh) from rotting. Salt in us is to preserve God’s way, truth and life.
The Lord has called us out of darkness and into His light for such a time as this. The light teaches and the light reveals God’s way and truth. Queen Esther exposed the evil plot of Haman who wanted to exterminate the Jews, and so we too, must expose the evil of abortion. “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose it.” Eph. 5:11
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…” Prov. 31:8 In Luke 10, Jesus shared the Parable of the Good Samaritan, that to get eternal life is to love your neighbour, but He did not say our neighbour is the person next door. He went on to explain that to love your neighbour is to rescue the ones being beaten and robbed and left to die in the ditches; how much more the least of them? Children being unjustly sentenced to death in hospitals and abortion mills for profit.
More than two million women across Canada have had an abortion, we have the Good News that they can be forgiven and set free through the precious blood of Jesus Christ. This is a huge evangelistic outreach and opportunity for the church to pray, and then be doers of His word by ministering to the broken-hearted, and also by laying down our lives for the those scheduled to be executed. Remember, “We defeat Satan by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony…” Rev. 12:11 “Redeeming the time for the days are evil.” Eph. 5:16 Please read Psalm 94
